Miranda Merklein was born in Asheville, North Carolina and grew up in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She is currently a PhD candidate in creative writing at the University of Southern Mississippi where she teaches World Literature and English Composition. She also publishes and edits Journal of Truth and Consequence, a magazine for the arts. She holds a MA in liberal arts from St. John's College and a BA in political science from College of Santa Fe.
